India bans prepaid mobile connections in Jammu and Kashmir

In concern of Pakistan sponsored LeT terrorism, Indian has banned use of prepaid mobile connections in Jammu and Kashmir from November 1, 2009.
The precautionery steps from the misnietry of telecommunication and home come in the middle of reports that proper verification is not being done while providing prepaid mobile connections by the boblie telecom service providers.
In many cases, one person or entity had been issued with multiple number of connections without proper reasoning why such multiple connections are requirted by one individual. The fake document and stolen identity numbers are being widely by the suspected terror operators from Pakistan especially in the case of pre-paid connections.
During his visit to the state last , the home minister P Chidambaram has mentiooned taht the government has been making efforts to persuade prepaid subscribers to switch to postpaid connections due to security issues.
