According to Indian Army, Indian Border Security Force failed to stop Pakistani infiltration for creating more Islamic terror cells
While Border Security Force (BSF) claimed to have foiled a major infiltration bid on International Border (IB) in Pargwal area of Akhnoor sector today, army sources contradicted the BSF claims saying that some militants managed to infiltrate into the Indian side. Police and the local sources also substantiated the claims of army by confirming that the militants had crossed the IB and their movement was noticed by some villagers near the IB after firing. Police have put the cops on high alert in the area under the jurisdiction of Jammu Rural and searches are being carried out to flush out the ultras if any present within the Indian Territory.
An official handout issued by the Additional Deputy Inspector General (G) BSF JB Sangwan said that on September 27, 2008 at about 12.05 AM, BSF troops deployed on the International Border in Chakphagwari area of Pargwal Sector of Jammu came under heavy fire from Pakistan side opposite Border Post number 542. The militants fired indiscriminately using AK Series weapons and UBGL grenades to pin down the BSF naka parties. The infiltration attempt was also covered by another group of militants from the flanks, who had taken position on the Pakistani bund constructed by Pakistan Ranger merely 20 meters from the IB. The handout said that infiltration bid, was however, foiled by the BSF troops, who retaliated the fire effectively. The heavy exchange of fire lasted for about 45 minutes while intermittent exchange of firing continued for one and a half hour.
Taking cover of the darkness, Pakistani bund close to IB and heavy covering fire provided by the militants from their flanks, the militants managed to escape back into Pakistan territory. The place from where the militants fired own naka is about 600 meters away from Pak Ranger Post Shah Jamal.
