The deal at Singur: Government releases 230 acres of land, 100 acres is from inside the Tata’s Nano plant

The deal is finally here. A consensus is finally reached between the West Bengal government and the Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee after the Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi initiated the crucial round of talks on Sunday. The West Bengal Government releases 230 acres of land. 100 acres is released from inside the Tata’s Nano plant at Singur. A joint committee will be formed to oversee the land handover. Mamata Banerjee is likely to call off her dharna outside the factory at Singur.

It is a partial victory for the common people of India. It is also a partial defeat (perhaps the first one) for Indian oligarchs that use Indian political parties to suppress the desires of common people in India.
