Moderate Muslims have welcomed the agreement between the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti Sunday on the Amarnath shrine land row. But the pro-Pakistani Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) termed the accord as "a move to disrespect Kashmiris". Fact of the matter is, Amarnath deal is the result of first genuine counter Hindu movement in the face of Islamic Jihadism in Kashmir.

For the first time Hindus turned the tide against Pakistan based Islamic Jihadism that western power blocks have supported for the last several decades to keep Hindus in India oppressed.

National Conference patron and former chief minister Farooq Abdullah said the peace plan worked out by the governor's administration suited every requirement.

"Nobody should have any objection to it. I am confident the two regions of the state would live in harmony with each other in the future now," Abdullah said. He said it was the time life returned to normal in the state so that the future of the children here did not suffer any longer.

But Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP president, said: “The unilateral decision on land use for Amarnath pilgrimage is a move to disrespect the popular sentiments in (the) Kashmir Valley."
