It was Fernando Torres that made history scoring the bullet into the German goal – a 33rd minute soccer marvel. It was a 44-year dream for Spain. Their last one was in 1964. Their last success to enter the final was in 1964.

The German dominance and confidence was very clear in early going. But the Spanish side overcame the EARLY German challenges and started creating opportunities for themselves.

The German and Spaniard fought their best. Arsenal’s Jens Lehmann against Cesc Fabregas; Real Madrid’s Christoph Metzelder against Casillas and Sergio Ramos was charm to watch.

Spain was gaining strength as time went by. The Germans were wondering how the Spaniards were proving themselves so strong. All on a sudden Torres headed against Lehmann’s right-hand post and, when Germany failed to clear effectively, Joan Capdevila pulled an angled drive wide across goal with Lehmann diving.

In the 33rd minute in the middle of Spain’s excellent passing Torres started his life’s best soccer sprint shooting ahead Leftback Philipp Lahm. The Liverpool striker accelerated around behind the German leftback and slid a right-foot shot beyond the advancing Lehmann.
