In August Large Hadron Collider - the most powerful atom-smasher ever built can simulate a mini big bang, crate a micro black hole, expose invisible matter and extra dimensions in space

Jun. 28, 2008

Time has finally come to turn on the biggest technical achievement of our civilization. The most powerful atom-smasher ever built could simulate a mini big bang, crate a micro black hole, expose invisible matter and extra dimensions in space, after it is switched on in August.

It is the right moment for a leap forward in physics and our journey into Type I civilization from an embarrassing Type 0.

The massive collider basically consists of a ring of supercooled magnets 17 miles in circumference attached to huge barrel-shaped detectors. The ring, which straddles the French and Swiss border, is buried 330 feet underground.

Large Hadron Collider will expose the invisible "dark matter" and "dark energy" that make up more than 96 percent of the universe. It will provide a clear understanding of the elusive Higgs boson, the undiscovered particle thought to give matter its mass.

The collider is designed to help find evidence of extra dimensions, the basis for the superstring theory, which holds that quarks, the particles that make up atoms, are infinitesimal vibrating strings. The superstring theory could resolve many of physics'' unanswered questions. It requires 10 dimensions and the Large Hadron Collider can help find the extra dimensions.
