India hits back at Pakistan’s 299 – India wins against Pakistan
Ajit Parker
Jun. 26, 2008

India is 158 for one down and there is indication that India will win this one. Shoaib Malik (125) scored his first century as Pakistan captain as the hosts posted a strong 299 for four against India in the ninth Asia Cup cricket tournament at the National stadium here on Thursday.

Malik, who opened the innings with Salman Butt retired hurt with cramps in the 40th over but by that time he had set the platform for Pakistan to post a fighting total after winning the toss.

It was Malik's sixth century, third against India, as he took 104 balls to reach his first century as captain hitting 13 fours and one six. His last hundred had come against India at Lahore in February, 2006.

India replied to Pakistan’s ton with a strong opening. India went ahead with 8 runs per over to make Pakistan’s ton look like minuscule.

Gambhir fell for 9. After that it was all Indian flags all over. Raina and Sehwag were determined to teach Pakistan some cricket. They created the grounds for crushing defeat for Pakistan.

It was a marvelous cricket by Raina and Sehwag. They took India to level that was seen in recent days. India trounced Pakistan handsomely.
