India seeks pact with Malaysia to regulate employment and discrimination
babu Ghanta
Jan. 9, 2008

Malaysian authorities are ducking Indian efforts to reach agreements on employment, stopping discrimination and improving environments for Indians to live and work in Malaysia.

In the backdrop of confusing reports of Kuala Lumpur imposing a ban on Indian workers, India seeks an early conclusion of a pact to regulate such employment as it took up the matter with the Malaysian government.

Defense Minister A K Antony, concluded an official visit to Kuala Lumpur. He voiced India's unhappiness over the delay in signing a Memorandum of Understanding on employment of Indians in Malaysia and Malaysians in India.

In recent days Indian Hindus have protested heavily against the discriminatory practices of the Malaysian authorities.
